I plan to do my research paper on the topic of mesothelioma. As I have mentioned before a very close family friend of mine recently passed away from this type of lung cancer. I plan on interviewing his granddaughter and a doctor that has dealt with these cases. While interviewing his granddaughter I plan to ask questions having to do with how it affected her family throughout the process of diagnosis up until death. From the doctor I hope to just get additional information that can further help me with this research paper.
Mesothelioma is a lung disease that is caused by asbestos, and causes cancer. I think that this is a problem that can be fixed that is why I want to research this. Asbestos does not need to be used as much as it is so that this disease can be prevented!!!
Anna, this looks like a really good topic you can do. I thinks its a good idea how you are approaching this with a medical view but also tying in a more personal perspective. It would be cool to see this as a more narrative but also include the medical side and the background of mesothelioma. You could also talk about how it affects families financially, and how that could possibly create some conflict between family. It could also bring family together to help support the situation. It is a good idea to interview a doctor because it would be a perspective from someone who is not in the family and is not emotionally attached to the family member with mesothelioma disease. You should write about your idea on fixing the problem. You should go into research on that and talk about the preventions, it may add more of a positive view on your paper.
